Minister and LAU trustee Kamal Shehadi delivered the keynote speech at the 14th Annual Alumni Business Networking event, where he outlined Lebanon’s readiness for AI and talent development, and presented a five-year plan aimed at fostering innovation and digitization.

Our outstanding Chevening and Fulbright scholars spoke about how the university gave them a leg up to compete with applicants on an international scale. Meanwhile, senior student Wala Al Sadi became the second LAU alumna to land the McCall MacBain Scholarship.

A cornerstone of knowledge advancement, the 3rd Annual LAU Research Day saw the participation of a record 142 undergraduates and 70 graduate students who passionately showcased their research findings across various disciplines. 

LAU’s artistic luminaries returned to their alma mater to exhibit their collections, from oil paintings, sculptures to digital installations at the Gezairi Building, in an event organized by the School of Architecture and Design along with the Alumni Relations Office.

Sophie Lythreatis’ (BS ’10; MBA ’15) work has made the top 5 percent of research globally, and she was named the first official research fellow of the Bristol Digital Futures Institute. Her scholarship explores the digital divide through a multidimensional lens.

The LAU Annual International Days brought embassies, partner universities and organizations to campus for eye-opening exchanges with students. At the LAU New York campus, 60 students and alumni prepared for the Global Classrooms International Model UN Conference.

From start to finish, more than 250 LAUers made waves at the OMT Beirut International Marathon, as they volunteered their medical expertise, ran for fun, competed or cheered on their peers. 

At the inaugural Uni Chefs’ Challenge, held by the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, student chefs from several Lebanese universities competed to create specialty dishes from a mystery basket, advocating for a brighter future for the industry in Lebanon.
