Two of LAU’s own are competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. LAU swimmer Simon Doueihy (BS ’24) qualified by achieving the highest World Aquatics Points in Lebanon in the 100m freestyle, clocking in at 49.69 seconds. Taekwondo champion and second-year medical student Laetitia Aoun made the grade after clinching 1st place in the Taekwondo Asian Qualification Tournament in China. Aoun is the second LAU student to qualify for the Olympics after Karen Chammas (BS ’14) who competed in the London Summer Olympics of 2012.

Furthermore, the Olympic Ambassador for Lebanon is the Lead Athletics Coordinator and Teams Manager of the LAU Athletics Department Mohamad Mawas (BS’16).

We wish them all good luck.
